LA’s Westside includes gorgeous beaches, film industry hotspots, quiet residential districts, and stunning mountain scenery.

The Westside of Los Angeles covers gorgeous beachfront communities, entertainment industry hotspots, calm residential neighborhoods, and the stunning scenery of an area bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.

The affluent Los Angeles’ neighborhood of Brentwood has been home to countless film stars and is enduringly popular with affluent families, with seven private and two public schools situated within its vicinity. Taking its name from the former 20th Century Fox backlot on which it was developed in the 1960s, Century City is a Westside commercial hub packed with high-rise luxury apartment buildings.

Mar Vista is Spanish for ‘Sea View,’ and this historic residential neighborhood with a suburban character boasts appropriately stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

Playa del Rey is a quiet oceanfront community with one of LA’s least crowded stretches of beach with access to two public golf courses as well as the exclusive 15-hole Westchester course.

Culver City is another area with a historically pivotal role in the Hollywood film industry and continues the legacy by being home to Sony Studios and Culver Studios. Culver City offers a great selection of innovative restaurants, quirky museums, and a vibrant bar scene.

Brentwood and Century City are both situated within Los Angeles, while these other Westside communities lie just outside the city limits.

These diverse Westside neighborhoods provide a diverse mix of properties. Mar Vista is known for its 52 perfectly-preserved homes created in the 1940s by noted architect Gregory Ain, along with numerous more expansive modern properties. Brentwood is similarly rich in architecture designed by mid-century masters, while also featuring numerous examples of more traditional Cape Cod, Spanish Revival, and Tudor homes. The luxury condos of Century City offer modern opulence with stunning views out to the ocean.

There is consequently significant variation in house prices between different Westside communities, with Brentwood’s median sales price over the past year being $2,520,000 and average price per square foot rising by 22% to $1,090, while the median sales price across West LA was $996,750, with an average price per square foot of $714.
